The language of Marau Wawa island off the south-west coast of the Bauro district of San Cristoval was very different from, and unintelligible with, the neighbouring Bauro [bxa] language ( C. E. Fox 1919: 130-131 ). It is missing from E16/E17/E18/E19/E20/E21/E22/E23/E24/E25/E26/E27. It is now almost certainly extinct (cf. Peter A. Lanyon-Orgill 1947 ). See also: Bauro [bxa].
