abstract = {In this thesis I present a brief grammar sketch of Fulfulde as spoken by the Wodaabe of Niger, giving special attention to the phonology of the language. One interesting aspect of Fulfulde morphophonology is the consonant gradation system which occurs in conjunction with the numerous noun classes and also distinguished between singular and plural subjects of verbs. There is an additional phoneme in this dialect that does not occur in other Fulfulde dialects which enters into the consonant gradation system and helps to clarify the system when viewed from a feature geometry approach. I conclude by proposing an addition to the present orthography of Wodaabe Fulfulde to more accurately reflect the phonemes found in the dialect, taking into account the influence from Hausa, the trade language of the area.},
