Luma along with other lects in Phongsaly province in Laos ( Tadahiko Shintani and Ryuichi Kosaka and Takashi Kato 2001 , Kingsada, Thongphet and Reiko Ueda-Suzuki and Tadahiko Shintani 1999 , Sigrid Lew 2023 ) are often filed under Akha [ahk], but Luma is not intelligible with Akha [ahk], nor with its closest relative Akeu [aeu], and thus merits its own language entry ( Sigrid Lew 2023 ).
