  abstract              = {This dissertation is a grammar of the Nevome language, a dialect of Plains Pima Bajo (Sonora State, Mexico) which was recorded during the mid-1600's A.D. It is a synchronic analysis of a large corpus of illustration sentences drawn from the extant ecclesiastical literature in the language. Nevome is a member of the Tepiman subfamily of the Uto-Aztecan language family. An introduction gives background information, a phonological sketch and abbreviations. The first chapter treats the clause, its constituents, and the possible expansions of these constituents. The second chapter discusses operations on the constituents of the clause, and the third chapter deals with the expansions of the clause. The fourth chapter examines Nevome structure in a historical perspective. After discussing the major differences between Nevome and a closely related Piman dialect (Papago-Pima), a single topic (clisis and variation in word order) is examined in detail.},
