Ponthai is a variety included in both the Nocte Naga [njb] and Tangshang Naga [nst] entry in E16/E17/E18/E19/E20/E21/E22/E23/E24/E25/E26/E27/E28. However, like other varieties under the Nocte and Tangsa Naga umbrella ( van Dam, Kellen Parker 2018 , Stephen Morey 2015 ), it is not inherently intelligible to either of them and thus merits its own entry.
