Retired in ISO 639-3: split into Caló [rmq] and Erromintxela [emx]

  • Change request: 2009-031
  • ISO 639-3: rmr
  • Name: Caló
  • Reason: split
  • Effective: 2010-01-18

Excerpt from change request document:

Erromintxela, "Basque Romany", is not mutually intelligible with Iberian Caló because 1) the grammar of Erromintxela is entirely based on Basque rather than on Spanish or Portuguese and 2) the Romany component is based on Kalderash Romany rather than Caló. There is no context in which these languages may be considered parts of a whole.
